The Story Behind

ABOUT US
Motto: "Inspiring Change, Empowering Lives."

Founded in 2015, Chetna Serving Humanity (CSH) is a Bihar-based NGO committed to fostering inclusive development, health, education, livelihood creation, and cultural preservation. Rooted in compassion and action, CSH focuses on empowering women, youth, and marginalized communities.

Our Journey

Early Endeavors

CSH began its journey by addressing the critical health and hygiene needs of bidi mazdoor (beedi workers) in Begusarai. Recognizing the immense stress faced by police personnel, CSH initiated programs on stress management, health profiling, and fostering a balance between work and family life. Efforts were made to empower women by organizing seminars and creating platforms that encouraged active participation for social causes. CSH also organized painting workshops for school children with the renowned international painter Dipto Narayan Chattopadhyay, nurturing creativity at an early stage.
At its headquarters in Govind Bigha Panchayat, CSH successfully conducted tailoring and basic computer classes for underprivileged girls, benefiting over 150 participants. These interventions laid a strong foundation for broader aspirations and led to the formal registration of CSH as an NGO in January 2017.

Formalization and Expansion

In Bhagalpur, CSH broadened its scope to cultural preservation, health initiatives, and youth empowerment. Heritage Walks and Talks were organized at historical sites such as Tilha Kothi and Vikramshila University to instill pride and awareness among locals and leaders alike. CSH also conducted health and hygiene programs for silk weavers, improving living standards in this traditional artisan community.

A permanent contribution was made to Bhagalpur Museum through the creation of the Anga Janpad Visual Gallery, showcasing the tangible cultural heritage of the Anga region.

Police Pathshala – Empowering Youth

CSH’s most celebrated initiative, the Police Pathshala, mentored and trained youth from marginalized communities, significantly improving their chances of securing government jobs. Its success at Bhagalpur inspired replication at Muzaffarpur, achieving remarkable outcomes and earning CSH recognition for its innovative educational interventions.

Educational Outreach and Digital

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, CSH launched Samudayik Pathshala at Nawada, providing academic support to rural students. During the pandemic, the organization swiftly transitioned to online education, ensuring continued learning for students in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Nawada.

Nafis Silk Sarees – Promoting Art and Livelihoods

CSH’s unique initiative of blending Mithila painting with Bhagalpur silk empowered a dozen women artisans. These women produce exquisite Nafis Silk Sarees and other silk garments, generating sustainable livelihoods. The products have gained admiration from Members of Parliament and prominent personalities, bringing national recognition to the artisans and to CSH’s innovative spirit.

Current Focus: Empower Her Program

CSH is presently executing the Empower Her Program across Nawada, Nalanda, and Koderma districts of Jharkhand. The program addresses crucial issues such as mental well-being, personal hygiene, and safe touch awareness among adolescent girls. Workshops have been conducted in remote locations like Sugahdi Village, Roh Block, and Hilsa Block, empowering girls with knowledge, confidence, and life skills.
